Hi guys, welcome to VENTS! How have you been?
Hey! Thanks for having us. Busy! Haha, but really good… really excited to be releasing new music.
Can you talk to us more about your latest single “Take My Hours”?
Yeah for sure! It’s a little bit different to what we’ve done in the past. Musically it’s a lot more nostalgic which is something we’ve always wanted to try.
Did any event in particular inspire you to write this song?
Yeah, we were having a conversation about how interesting song writing is, it’s always a different experience each time. Afterwards I (Parker) got the idea to try writing a song about writing songs but wanted it to be relatable to anything you’re passionate about.
How was the filming process behind the video?
Really long… it took us 5 years. Haha, no, it was really last minute… we weren’t going to shoot anything until after the song went out but it was the week or so before the release and we played back a few old videos to the song and it had a really cool vibe so we went with the whole ‘behind the scenes’ where it all started to where we are now. It was definitely a video for us and our friends and family.
How was the recording and writing process?
It was something we had been working on for a while. It probably took about six months to finally finish as we kept coming back to it. I’d say the whole process was quite relaxed.
Do you tend to take a different approach when you are collaborating with someone else rather than working on your own?
Well yes and no, less compromising for sure… but every idea is different and comes to life in a different way so the approach is often different whether we’re collaborating or not… but I think it’s a lot more personal working on our own… maybe.
What have you learned from these collaborative experiences?
So many things really, being open minded is definitely a big one. There’s so many different ways to do things and to create something special… try things, experiment… keep snacks close by.
Does the new single mean we can expect a new material – how’s that coming along?
Oh definitely, we have so much that we can’t wait to share… possibly an EP before the end of the year.
Any tentative release date or title in mind?
It’s too early for a ‘best of’ album… apparently, so we’re thinking about a different title. I will say this… the name of our next release is out there, we thought it would be fun to leave a few clues laying around.
Any plans to hit the road?
Always, East Coast of Australia is first… but no dates yet.
What else is happening next in Sunset City’s world?
More releases, EPs, tours… UK/European tour is definitely in the cards. We’re just enjoying it all, we’re excited for what’s to come!
